If you're looking for the cheapest internet service provider, Xfinity offers some affordable plans. You'll find plans as low as $20–$30 a month, depending on where you live.

Typically, the cheapest Comcast Xfinity internet service plan is its 75 Mbps plan. You'll see in the table above that it costs $20 a month in the Western US, and that rings true for pretty much anywhere you can get Xfinity.

Still, you might be surprised that its fastest plan, Gigabit or Gigabit Extra, tends to offer the best price for the speed you get.

So while it might be easy to pinpoint which internet package has the lowest cost per month, finding the best bang for your buck is another story. But if you're looking to save as much money as possible, Xfinity has internet plans ranging from $20–$50 per month.

Xfinity internet service prices depend on where you live, but if you dig deep enough, you’ll find some high-value plans that won't have you overpaying for extra speed. Let's dig into the pricing, internet download speeds, and price per Mbps for Xfinity internet plans available across the US.

Cheapest Xfinity plan: Northeastern US

For those looking to pay the lowest price without worrying about what download speed they get, the Xfinity Fast plan is the cheapest in the Northeastern US.

The promotional price Xfinity's charging for its 400 Mbps plan is just too good to pass up. It costs just under half as much per Mbps as the Superfast plan. And those download speeds should more than cover you even if you run a home office while your kiddos or partner enjoy some game time or stream Paw Patrol.

If you want to avoid the price hike after a year, we advise calling Xfinity just before your second year is up to see if the representative can offer you any new deals.

We recommend most families start with at least 100 Mbps download speeds, and since all of Xfinity service plans tick that box, choosing a plan comes down to affordability and upload speed.

But don't forget about the Superfast plan either. At $60 a month, this plan offers up to 800 Mbps download speeds. That’s an exceptional deal for those speeds, which are perfect for keeping even a larger family connected while everyone streams Netflix or games on the Xbox (no one wants slow WiFi).

The biggest downside is that your price significantly spikes after the promo period ends. Superfast goes up to $97 a month after two years.

If you start breaking down the cost per Mbps, you’ll quickly find that most of Xfinity's plans offer around the same price per Mbps, not including Connect More which is practically double the rest. But with plans Fast through Gigabit you can trust that whichever plan you choose is giving you the same rate of Mbps as the other plans. You just need to decide how much you want to spend and how much speed you need.

Cheapest Xfinity plan: Central US

Xfinity’s Connect is clearly the cheapest option in the Central US if you just want to pay the lowest price and don’t care for that much internet speed. But we recommend going for the Connect More plan to get more bang for your buck.

The promo price for the Connect More plan won't ring your budget dry. Plus, the 200 Mbps download speed is a great amount for three or four internet users.

Just be aware that your monthly price goes up to $72 a month after two years.

However, we’ll caution you that the Connect plan’s 75 Mbps download speeds probably won’t cut it if you need to work from home or share your internet with more than two other people. The more people and devices that use your internet, the more download speed you need. Though, this could be a great option for a smaller household of one or two people.

That's why the Connect More plan with 200 Mbps is our pick for the Xfinity plan with the best value here. Download speeds of 200 Mbps are a perfect place for most families and should support a few people streaming and gaming at the same time.

One thing to note: Your price for either of these plans goes up after your first year. The cost of Connect rises to $52 a month after the first year, and the cost of Connect More rises to $72 a month after the second year.

Take a look at the cost per Mbps, though, and you’ll see that the Connect and Connect More plans are actually the most costly.

The Gigabit Extra plan, on the other hand, offers the most value on a cost-per-Mbps basis. And its 1,200 Mbps speeds can keep a large family connected, plus keep your home security system, smart home hubs, and other devices online too.

But keep in mind that the Gigabit Extra plan requires a two-year contract, and it's the most costly plan out of all those Xfinity offers in the Central US. (And that price goes up to $95 a month during your third year, and then it goes up to $112 after your third year.) If you don't need that much download speed, you might be better off grabbing a slower plan at a lower monthly cost.

Cheapest Xfinity plan: Western US

Xfinity’s Connect plan is the cheapest option in the Western US when you look at how much you’d pay per month.

Of course, if you’d rather not see your monthly bill creep close to or over $100 a month, the Fast plan rings at $50 a month and comes with a low cost per Mbps. Plus it comes with decent download speeds of up to 400 Mbps too.

The Connect plan comes with up to 75 Mbps download speeds, which is fast enough to keep one to two people comfortably streaming and gaming to their heart’s content. But we wouldn't recommend it for more people—even if you stream only on the weekends.

We'd point to the Connect More or Fast plans as better deals for most families since you get up to 200 or 400 Mbps download speeds. That's definitely enough to support at least a few people and a handful of devices all using the Xfinity WiFi plan at the same time.

One thing to note about Xfinity internet plans is your price goes up after one year. With Connect, you'll pay $51 a month after a year.

But when you look at each plan’s cost per Mbps, the Connect and Connect More plan stacks up as the most expensive. On the other hand, all of Xfinity’s internet plans for the West cost you less than 50 cents per Mbps.

The best value of them all is the Gigabit Extra plan, which costs you less than 10 cents per Mbps.

Cheapest Xfinity Plans FAQ

You might be able to get a cheaper Comcast Xfinity internet plan by following these steps:

  1. Get an Xfinity internet-only plan with no TV package.
  2. Decide what speed you need and choose a plan that offers the closest download speeds.
  3. Don't go over the 1.2 TB data cap—extra or unlimited data costs more with Xfinity.
  4. Don't rent the xFi Gateway or xFi Complete modem-router combo and buy your own modem and router instead.
  5. Call in and see if you can negotiate your monthly cost even if you're already an Xfinity customer.

Comcast's $10 a-month Internet Essentials and Internet Essentials Plus plans come with 50–100 Mbps download speeds and 10 Mbps upload speeds.

Comcast Xfinity offers a bunch of deals for new customers, and you might be able to negotiate one of those deals even if you're an existing customer. We recommend having an Xfinity rep call you so you can talk details, or pop into your local Xfinity store for some face-to-face time.

P.S. You can request a call from Xfinity through its app.

We've had the best luck getting a better deal with Comcast by calling a representative. Surprisingly, the first time this happened we called about a technical issue with our router, and the rep noted that we could switch our plan up a bit to get a better deal.

Ideally you'll want to call a month or two before your price goes up, and you can request a call from and Xfinity rep through the Xfinity app.

How much is Xfinity without a contract?

You can choose to get rid of your 1- or 2-year contract with some Xfinity internet plans—but it'll cost you a bit extra. Still, if you know you're going to move within the next year or two, the higher monthly price might be better than paying an early termination fee.

Is Xfinity internet good?

Xfinity is one of the best known internet service providers (ISPs) in the US, and despite getting a lot of flak for its lackluster customer service, it provides pretty reliable and fast service.

We've subscribed to Xfinity internet for several years now, and for the most part haven't had any trouble with our internet speeds or Xfinity WiFi plans. On top of that, Xfinity internet prices tend to start out pretty low—and you might get a friendly Xfinity service rep to offer you that promotional price again when your contract is about to expire. (This happened to us once.)

But this internet provider also comes with some downsides (just like any ISP): The price you pay depends a lot on where you live, which can make selecting the cheapest plan confusing. Its customer service can make you want to pull your hair out. And Xfinity still caps your data at 1.2 TB—probably not a deal-breaker for most of us, but power users, beware.
