fuboTV vs. YouTube TV Review 2023

Plain and simple, fuboTV has a better dollar-to-channel ratio than YouTube TV. fuboTV charges an average of 46 cents per channel, while YouTube TV charges 76.

YouTube TV offers only one plan, but it does come with a more complete channel lineup than fuboTV’s Pro plan, which is $10 more. 

We can’t say the same for fuboTV’s Elite plan ($85), as it has almost every YouTube TV channel and over 100 more.

Although fuboTV has a better value, we really like how YouTube TV offers NFL Network, NBA TV, and Turner Networks (like TNT, TBS, and CNN) for just $73 per month.

Although you’d have to get the $85-per-month plan with fuboTV to get NBA TV and ESPNU, you will get more than double the channels than you would with YouTube TV. Those channels include NHL Network, Sony Movie Channel, and Cooking Channel.

We like how fuboTV offers three plans that fit your budget and watching needs.

YouTube TV and fuboTV have the best channel lineups in the live TV streaming world.

But since it's that time of the year, we'll say upfront that fuboTV is the best option for MLB fans. fuboTV offers MLB.TV, MLB Network, ABC, ESPN, FOX, and FS1 (but not TBS).

YouTube TV comes with major sports networks, Turner Networks (like TNT and TBS), and a huge variety of popular channels (Disney Channel, FOX News, Hallmark Channel, and ESPN).

And starting this fall, you can get NFL Sunday Ticket with YouTube TV. Add NFL Sunday Ticket to your subscription for $349 for the season or purchase it a la carte for an extra $100. You can even add NFL RedZone Channel to the mix with or without a YouTube TV subscription.

fuboTV has a channel lineup with 20–30+ sports channels and live TV channels for kids, lifestyle, entertainment, news, and movies. 

PS: Both services have your local channels (ABC, CBS, FOX, and NBC) so you don’t miss out on your city’s news, NBA or NFL games, or Good Morning America.

Honestly, both services are worth the price, and you’ll be happy with the channels they offer. It will just come down to the little things:

• Get fuboTV if you want 150–215+ live TV channels.
• Get YouTube TV if you’d like to watch 100+ popular channels for just $73.
• To access all of the channels YouTube TV offers and more, you’ll have to pay $85 with fuboTV, but you’ll get double the number of channels.
• Get YouTube TV if you can’t live without TBS, TNT, and CNN. (We know some of you avid NBA fans might fall into this category.)

Now that we’ve mentioned that both services have a great variety, we’ll lay out the channels you can expect with both live TV providers.

fuboTV’s Premier plan is only worth it if you want more niche news channels and SHOWTIME channels (which costs about $10 with most TV providers). But the Elite package gets you every family and sports channel you need.

A DVR is ideal for recording all The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon episodes because you're not a night owl or a Miami Dolphins game because your kid has a dance recital at kickoff time.

So you could say a DVR is a lifesaver convenient.

YouTube TV has a better DVR with an unlimited number of storage hours. Everyone in the family can record their favorite programming, and no one has to worry about sharing storage space. 

fuboTV offers 1,000 hours of DVR storage, which is likely enough for most. If you think about it, 1000 allows you to record 100 Dateline episodes, 100 Family Feud episodes, 100 NBA games, 50 City Greens episodes, and about 240 movies.

Before we wrap up this section, we must highlight a possible downside to YouTube TV: your recordings only save for nine months, whereas fuboTV saves your recordings indefinitely. 

If you can save your recordings for only nine months, you won’t be able to watch that great Christmas movie you recorded (and wish you owned) the following Christmas.
